Hi all,

I’m Aaron, teacher of the Motionhouse community classes in our dance studio here in Leamington Spa. I’m really looking forward to get back into the studio with you all this year, with some fresh energy, focus and ideas for 2017.

I wanted to say thank you too everyone for all your hard work, effort and commitment last year – especially for your brilliant Christmas fundraiser performances – and this year we will strive to work even harder, push further and be the best we can be, hopefully growing our Motionhouse family with some new faces along the way!

What I would really like to focus on when we start next week is learning lots of new skills, building our fitness, bigger lifts and more partnering, and improving our technique, performance and creative work, all in true Motionhouse style. And I want us all to have loads of fun too!

Classes start back next week, beginning Monday 9 January 2017.

For more information about Motionhouse classes, visit our website by clicking here. If you’d like to book a class now, call Sophie in the office on 01926 887052 or email info@motionhouse.co.uk

Hope to see you all next week!

The Motionhouse year was rounded off with the first leg of a tour of our internationally-acclaimed production Scattered. We visited seven venues and performed to 3,514 people. We performed in Germany, and were delighted to return to Baltoppen Live in Denmark where we performed Broken in 2015. The reception we had at each and every venue was wonderful – thank you to everyone who came to see the show and made the end of our year so special.

There are eight more venues on the tour in 2017 including local dates at The Old Rep in Birmingham and Warwick Hall. The tour will conclude a five show run at The Peacock in London. For full information about the 2017 tour and to find your nearest Scattered venue, click here.

“It was amazing, breath taking, really, really impressive. I couldn’t look away. There was so much going on and I wanted to watch again and again.” Audience member, Corby Cube, 2016

While half of the professional Motionhouse company toured with BLOCK extensively this summer, the rest of the team worked with Kevin Finnan on our brand new show – Torque.

The company has become well-known for its large-scale outdoor spectacles, and Torque is the latest in a string of phenomenal shows featuring JCB diggers. In Torque four Motionhouse dancers work in partnership with two JCBs – and their drivers of course!

In 2016 the show was performed as part of International Dance Festival Birmingham’s Live Nights, and at Coventry’s Godiva Festival as part of the 2021 Coventry City of Culture bid launch. 3,950 people came to watch across these two events alone!

Motionhouse’s large-scale work continues in 2017 with one of our largest outdoor projects yet! We are delighted to have been commissioned to create a stunning outdoor spectacle animating the harbour in Randers, Denmark, for the Aarhus European Capital of Culture celebrations in September 2017. We can’t wait to share progress from this project with you in the months to come!

If you saw us perform this year we’d love to hear your feedback so that we can learn more about our audiences and how we can give them the best possible experience when they come to see our work. We’ve created a survey that will take you less than five minutes to complete. You’ll find it here: http://www.motionhouse.co.uk/feedback.shtml
