Motionhouse is one of the leading dance theatre companies in the UK. We have 3 festival pieces in repertoire which tour extensively throughout Europe and the UK.
Underground premiered in 2008 and continues to be a favourite with promoters and audiences alike. The show won the audience prize at the Miramiro Festival, Ghent in 2009.
Performed by 4 dancers within a rocking tubular structure, Underground uses stunningly physical dance, poignant imagery and surprising aerial encounters to explore the new reality of train travel - the compressed intimacy of a crowded carriage, the crush of personal space and the tight fear of a dangerous stranger within a climate of suspicion.

"Of all the participating artists Motionhouse’s innovative performance will contribute the most to the further development of the arts in public spaces." The official jury of MiraMirO
"A triumph, fantastic show!" The National Theatre, London
"Their performance was electric, awe inspiring, fluidly beautiful and poetic. Elegance and anarchy rolled into one powerful, strong bodied, fully alive, uplifting performance… I found it amazing to be both moved to tears, awed, and to break out in smiles and laughter." Audience Member
