Motionhouse and the Ikon Gallery as part of the European Arts Festival, Deja vu was a unique visual arts experience and a radical performance programme that began in the gallery and transferred to the theatre.

Inspired by 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Deja vu was a daring collaboration between Motionhouse choreographers Kevin Finnan and Louise Richards and leading Spanish installation artist Rosa Sanchez. From this rich source, Rosa created Memory and the setting for Arcadio...Motionhouse created Arcadio, a dance theatre production with live music, and a series of performance episodes for Memory.

These performance episodes led the audience through the installation. Drawing on themes of violence, lust, sensuality and prophecy, each episode was a fragment of memory - from half remembered relationships to full blown nightmares. In addition, Arcadio toured nationally to small and medium scale venues in its own right.
