Watermusic

Watermusic Trailer

On 2 and 3 September 2017 the harbour in Randers, Denmark, became the stage for our spectacular large scale outdoor show, Watermusic, as part of the Aarhus 2017 European Capital of Culture celebrations.

Created and Directed by Kevin Finnan, Watermusic had a large cast including Motionhouse performers, singers, musicians, choirs and local community groups. Incredible digital projections created by Motionhouse’s long-term collaborator Logela created a world of visual magic, taking the audience on a journey through the story of Watermusic, telling stories of the relationship between land and water and the history of the area. Renowned Danish singer-songwriter Oh Land wrote and performed the music and also played the role of Queen of the Sea.

Watermusic was one of 12 chosen full moon projects in the official programme for the European Capital of Culture, Aarhus 2017, and was Randers’ single biggest outdoor cultural event to date.

Watermusic was seen by an incredible 17,400 people and was also live-streamed by Danish TV channel, DR P4 Ostjylland, with more than 100,000 views on the night and in the following few days.

You can follow the Motionhouse journey leading up to the premiere by watching clips taken from the official Watermusic Documentary, produced, shot and edited by Underdog Films.
