“The show explores the architecture of the modern urban environment and our precarious relationship with the world that we have created. Dancers and machines interact to explore the fragile web of gossamer connections and complex relationships in the modern world.”

Kevin Finnan MBE, Artistic Director of Motionhouse

Fragile

Fragile sees dancers and JCB diggers working together in a breath-taking demonstration of strength and agility. Dancers and machines interact in a poignant celebration of the relationship between movement and emotion.

Moments of beautiful interaction between dancers and machine are designed to be understood through the senses. It is a visceral exciting experience which moves the audience through risk, daring, beauty and the unexpected.

Watch Us In Action

Fragile was a brand new large-scale outdoor show commissioned in 2015, building on our previous work with dancers and JCB diggers. The show was performed at festivals in Glasgow and Canterbury in summer 2015.

Fragile was commissioned by Conflux, Merchant City Festival and Gulbenkian, University of Kent, with support from Creative Scotland, Glasgow City Council, Arts Council England and sponsored by Scot JCB and AB 2000.

“Fragile aims to delight the young and old, to thrill and surprise and to leave audiences deliberating on the marvels of human achievement and the questions humanity faces in the future.”
Kevin Finnan MBE, Artistic Director of Motionhouse
