We’re really proud of the exciting education programme that we run from our local base in Leamington Spa. In 2016 we ran six weekly term-time classes for dancers aged eight to adult, including Full Force boys group and Motionhouse Youth Company.
And we don’t just dance during term-time – we have loads of fun in the holidays too! In 2016, 88 young people attended a holiday class with us. As well as classes that took place in our studio, we delivered the Siege project on site at Kenilworth Castle, and saw some of our young students perform outdoors at Art in the Park festival in Leamington Spa.
We delivered a two-day Preparation for Dance Training intensive course over the summer, which aimed to teach, inspire and prepare young people who hope to study dance full-time in the future.
This year we started a brand new dance company called FLIGHT, based at Ashlawn School in Rugby. The group is being led by our fantastic former Apprentice and Artist in Training, Aaron.
An important part of our work with young people is giving them the opportunity to perform. In 2016 our young people performed 20 times to 1,514 people, including for our hugely successful Generations project which saw our young dancers perform in local care homes. Motionhouse Youth Company performed their piece Without Wings at the Leamington Spa Town Council Assembly, Warwick Arts Centre and at The Belgrade theatre in Coventry.
In 2016 we worked with 1,640 young dancers. At the Motionhouse Summer Party and the Festive Fundraiser this December, incredible participants from our local community classes and youth companies performed to family, friends and Motionhouse supporters. It was brilliant to celebrate all the hard work our participants have put in in 2016. Well done to all of you!

We are lucky to have a fantastic dance studio right here at our base in Spencer Yard, Leamington Spa. As well as providing a space for our professional dancers to rehearse and take class, the studio is the perfect place to train up the next generation of aspiring dancers.
