Learn/Train

Motionhouse has an outstanding reputation for delivering excellent education and participatory work, developing the fundamental link between the creation of our performance work and our participatory projects. Our participatory programme, like our professional work, encourages participants to be creative, strong, dedicated, curious and adventurous. Our teaching is accessible and inspiring, we nurture a fully inclusive environment where all people are welcome where they will feel safe, accepted and challenged regardless of age or ability.

We deliver a wide range of creative learning, participation and engagement projects, including:

  • workshops and residencies in schools – full schemes of work, cross curricular topics and pure dance skills, summer or Christmas performances, special projects including taking our performance work into assemblies
  • creative residencies for community and youth dance groups/companies, advanced training courses, professional development and masterclasses
  • community classes for children, young people, older people, people living with a disability or impairment, families and carers
  • teacher training days – aiming to instil newfound confidence in the facilitation and leading of dance at all key stages

Recognising talent, commitment and dedication, we also provide invaluable industry experience for young people wanting to pursue careers in dance and the arts by offering placements, apprenticeships, professional training opportunities and bespoke mentoring.
