Tales of Timișoara: It’s Show Day!

5th October 2018

With the first performance of Lumen only hours away it is not long until our months of hard work are displayed to the people of Timișoara for the very first time, marking the beginning of celebrations as part of the cultural programme in the lead-up to the TM2021 European Capital of Culture celebrations.

Lumen will take place at 8pm each night from today until Sunday, transforming a disused dock on the Bega River in Timișoara into a stage for a spectacular large-scale outdoor show like nothing the city has seen before.

Created and directed by Kevin Finnan MBE, Artistic Director of Motionhouse, Lumen celebrates the people of Timișoara, who shine as the constant light of the city during the considerable periods of flux in the country’s recent history, reflecting the theme of the celebrations, ‘shine your light’, through even the darkest of times.

In addition to our amazing dancers, local choirs and dancers will bring to life the dockside, as well as a giant aerial spectacle of boats, bicycles, construction workers and a flying room all suspended from a moving crane to light up the sky and amaze the audience. The skill and daring of Motionhouse will combine with the incredible digital projections by our long-term collaborator Logela, to tell the story of the ebb and flow of history on the city over recent years and how this has affected the people.

Stay tuned with our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for exciting Lumen updates!
