Last weekend Motionhouse Youth had a fab time performing at the Commonwealth Social in Centenary Square, Birmingham.
Prior to the performance the group had a week-long intensive with company dancer Aaron Watkinson and Artistic Director, Kevin Finnan to create and conceive a new piece for the event inspired by the Commonwealth Games which will be hosted in Birmingham in 2022.
The group also worked with company dancers Chris and Berta who became a part of the piece. This was really exciting for our youth company to perform with members from our core company.
With three years to go until the Commonwealth Games, the Commonwealth Social was a free family-friendly festival of sport, food and live performances hosted by Birmingham 2022 as a countdown celebration to what will be a once-in-a-lifetime event, so it was really amazing for us to be involved. As well as performing twice on the day, the group were able to meet some great new people and were interviewed by BBC WM radio.
