Last week, we had the pleasure to host two Experience Days, welcoming the RSA Academy Tipton and Stratford-Upon-Avon College SUAC Onstage for a day in the life of a Motionhouse dancer.
Experience Days are a brand new scheme launched by our Creative Learning Producer Amy Dalton-Hardy, which offers the unique opportunity for groups of secondary and high school students to get a behind-the-scenes insight into the Motionhouse company life.
The days started with an introduction to the history of the company and its past productions, with presentations from the Motionhouse staff to introduce students to the non-performance career paths available in the dance industries.
Students from RSA Academy Tipton and SUAC Onstage then took part in Company Class, learning alongside our dancers the exercises and phrases they teach one another to start the day. The Company Class was then followed by tailor-made workshops: RSA Academy created dance pieces under the theme of #WhoAreYou, while SUAC Onstage explored contact improvisation.
