ANNOUNCING THE PREMIERE TOUR OF OUR NEW SHOW ‘NOBODY’!

Magical dance-circus for all the family in this multi-media dance show

27th February 2020

We’re excited to announce the first tour of Nobody, our new dance-circus production, which will open at International Family Festival bOing! in Canterbury on the 29th August 2020, which is organised by Gulbenkian arts centre at the University of Kent, one of the commissioners of the show.

Nobody is made for audiences of all ages, will use magical dance-circus to take audiences on a fantastical and spellbinding journey, packed with visual magic, using the highly physical style we’re known for. Digital projections transform the world onstage, exploring worlds of illusion and the ever-shifting realities of our inner dreams and our everyday life.

Nobody is a continuation of our Artistic Director Kevin Finnan’s examination of the human condition and our place in the world – this time looking at the contrast between our inner worlds and what we present to others.

The first leg of the premiere tour that was announced today will also see the West Midlands premiere of Nobody at Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham – also a commissioner of the production – and dates at 9 more venues in the UK and Europe, with a further 16 on the next leg of the tour to be announced soon.

Audiences can follow the Nobody Diaries in this blog and our social media channels for regular behind-the-scenes updates as the show is created .

And also….did you know that young people can be a part of the creation of Nobody by uploading creative work in response to the question #WhoAreYou? on a specially created digital platform. Creations will be viewed by Kevin and our dancers to inspire them while they are making Nobody over the coming months.

“Making new work is always an exciting time for me and the company. Over the past 10 years we have made three major shows as part of a trilogy and Nobody is a next step on for me. The skills and the direction of the company has changed – we’re really embracing the relationship between dance, digital and circus in a new way for this production; developing our movement language and playing with the digital imagery in a different way. I’m very hopeful that this will be an exciting show for audiences – I think it will look quite different from the last few shows that we’ve made.”

Kevin Finnan, Artistic Director of Motionhouse

Nobody is commissioned by and created in partnership with University of Kent, ART31 and Midlands Arts Centre. Supported by Dance Hub Birmingham, Arts Connect and the Leche Trust.
