Bringing our work to you online when we can’t be with you live

26th March 2020

We wanted to give you an update on the impact of COVID-19 and how we are reacting to it.

All of our immediately upcoming performances and community engagement work have sadly been cancelled or postponed until further notice, and our office is closed, with a small team working remotely.

Here at Motionhouse, our ethos is to bring people together through the power of dance. Whilst we might not be able to do this through performances in theatres and festivals or engage with people through our community classes at the moment, we wanted to let you know what we’ll be doing online during this period of self-isolation and social distancing.

Read on to find out what we’re doing online, including online classes and workshops for all ages and live screenings of our work on YouTube.

Our Earth Trilogy is online!

We’ve shared our popular Earth Trilogy online for the first time ever on our #TogetherInIsolation playlist on our YouTube channel.

We hope that the Earth Trilogy – Scattered (2009), Broken (2013) and Charge (2017) –  will help us all stay #TogetherInIsolation.

Following on from the Earth Trilogy, we’ll also be sharing some of our outdoor work, so keep checking our social media channels for updates!

Online premiere of EXO!

We’ve also shared our our outdoor production EXO with dancers and JCB diggers! Great entertainment for all the family! Go to our #TogetherInIsolation playlist

Online classes

Our dancers have developed a range of classes to help you and your family to stay active whilst you are in isolation – from classes for parents and small children, for older children and adult beginners, right through to dance fitness courses for all levels to enjoy together – so please do have a look on our #TogetherInIsolation playlist on our YouTube channel and see what catches your eye.

There are also classes for professionals and tutorials with our dancers for students and young dancers, with audition tips and advice.

To make sure you don’t miss anything, make sure to follow us if you don’t already – we’re on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

For the final week of the school term before Easter, all of our regular dance classes were made available online, please contact [email protected] if you haven’t received any updates on your class to make sure you don’t miss any important information.

We are offering 20 minute free one-to-one tutorials with our Executive Director Louise Richards and Kevin Finnan our Artistic Director – an opportunity for young artists to find out more about the creative process and how to run a successful dance company. Find out more in this blog.

Thank you for your support

We’ve been touched by the support we’ve received from our audiences, partners, collaborators, friends and staff over the last week. We’d also like to thank Arts Council England for the incredible emergency support they are offering to us and other arts organisations during the COVID-19 crisis.

A huge thank you to those of you who have donated to us in the past weeks.

Motionhouse is a charity, and in light of the unprecedented and uncertain circumstances, we are grateful for any donations, however large or small. Every little bit will help us provide security for the company in order to help us to continue to deliver exceptional performance and creative participatory work for people in communities across the UK in the future.

But to those not in a position to donate, we’re just extremely grateful for your understanding as we work through the current challenges. Please bear with us until we are able to see you again on tour or in our community classes and training.

THANK YOU!
