Join our Youth Board!

29th October 2021

We’re recruiting young people from the West Midlands, aged between 14-25 years for our new Youth Board!

What is a Youth Board?

Motionhouse’s youth board will be an opportunity for young people to come together 4 times a year to share their views, thoughts and ideas on the work and programmes of the company. This might include our classes, workshops, opportunities for young people, and much more. The youth board will give young people a platform for their voices to be heard and the chance to discuss relevant issues, engage with Motionhouse staff and contribute to future development of new projects and initiatives led by the company.

Why should you get involved?

There are many reasons why this is a great opportunity – not least because it’ll look amazing on your CV! There will be opportunities to engage with the main Motionhouse company including previews of the company in rehearsal and other perks throughout the year. We want to ensure that all our work from performances to creative learning opportunities, are relevant to all young people, all the time. By being an active member of our youth board, you can share your thoughts and ideas to tell us how.

This board will be a chance for you to develop the following skills:

  • communication and leadership
  • social – you’ll meet new friends
  • develop your confidence, motivation, ownership
  • analyse and give us feedback
  • critique our social media
  • decision making
  • problem solving
  • public speaking (if you want)

Who are we looking for?

Any young person interested in our work aged between 14-25 years. We are looking for 8 young people in total. It is not essential to have dance experience.

If you are selected to join our youth board, we expect you to attend a minimum of 4 meetings per year to keep your membership active. The first board meeting will be 6-8pm on Wednesday 19 January 2022 in our Town Hall space in Leamington Spa.
