Celebrating 35 Years – our local community

12th June 2023

Right since the very beginning of Motionhouse 35 years ago, our work in the local community has been an important part of what we do. A key part of our ethos and mission is to give people of all ages opportunities to be creative through dance, regardless of their background or previous dance experience.

Our two fantastic spaces in Leamington in Spencer Yard and Leamington Town Hall offer two creative hubs for people of all ages to experience our inspiring programme of activities. In addition to our regular and holiday activities, recent projects we’re proud to have delivered locally include our work with Warwickshire Young Carers and the Friendship Project, a Warwickshire-wide charity that matches children and young people (who are in need, for a variety of reasons) with volunteers, for friendship and fun.

We’ve also worked with Warwickshire Libraries on a poetry and dance project, the Ups of Downs, a local charity that celebrates Down syndrome in Warwickshire and surrounding counties, and just about every school in the local area. Our free Mini-Movers class at Lillington Children’s Centre, supported by Warwick District Council gets tiny tots moving at a young age, whilst our Care to Dance? Project in local care homes, supported by Leamington Town Council earlier this year gave the district’s older residents valuable opportunities to improve mobility through dance and movement.

Each year, our Annual Report gives you more detail of all of the community projects we run in the local area if you’d like to find out more. If you’d like to join in some of our fun holiday activities, have a look at what we’ve got planned for the summer in Leamington Town Hall.
