We’re delighted to be delivering two new free dance initiatives for adults living with Parkinson’s and dementia in our local community this autumn/winter.
Moving with Parkinson’s offers a series of brand-new weekly movement sessions at the SYDNI Centre, Leamington Spa and Dance for Dementia will offer regular sessions at Warwick Library.
These free weekly sessions aim to enable people living with Parkinson’s and dementia to experience the joy of movement in a safe and relaxed atmosphere, supporting mobility, balance and emotional wellbeing. Family members, partners and carers are also invited to join in, creating a sense of community and connection, with an opportunity to stay for refreshments after the sessions. Moving with Parkinson’s is funded by a Warwick District Council Arts Grant and Dance for Dementia is supported by a grant from King Henry VIII Endowed Trust.
Moving with Parkinson’s will take place on Fridays from 25 September to 29 January 2027 (no sessions 30 October, 25 December, 1 and 8 January) at the SYDNI Centre in Leamington. Sessions run from 11am – 12pm followed by 30 minutes for refreshments.
Dance for Dementia will take place on Thursdays from 5 November to 4 March 2027 (no sessions 24 and 31 December, and 7 January) at Warwick Library. Sessions run from 2pm – 3pm followed by 30 minutes for refreshments, when participants and families will have an opportunity to socialise and to access a range of books for people living with dementia offered by the library.
