Learn more about our new performers

12th February 2019

Last Monday marked the first day of our three new performers, Shannon, Charlotte and Berta. Read on to find out more about them and learn what they are most excited about in their new role here at Motionhouse.

Berta studied contemporary dance at Institut del Teatre, Conservatory of Dance as well as performing as a member of the Postgraduate Company VERVE at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and graduating with an MA in Contemporary Dance in 2017. As well as performing with companies including Southpaw Dance Company, Berta has trained in other disciplines including Hand to Hand. On her first day Berta stated, “I am very excited about improving my circus skills while dancing and performing, I can’t wait to tour around the world and perform alongside a team of such inspiring artists!”

Charlotte trained at The University of Chichester where she gained a BA (Hons) in Dance. She was also a member of 3Fall Dance Company, Dillon Dance and JV2.  In-between projects Charlotte has choreographed and performed in music videos and has interests in community dance, acrobatics and travelling. Upon starting with Motionhouse, Charlotte explained “I’m extremely excited to learn the vast range of works in Motionhouse’s repertoire and getting to tour with such a talented and supportive company! So far I have greatly improved my contact skills and ability to perform at heights and I am now looking forward to the challenges ahead and how I can contribute to the creative process.”

Shannon completed her full time dance training at Centre Pointe Vocational College before going on to train at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, some of her highlights include: working with Mark Baldwin, Kim Brandstrup and Jason Mabana, whilst also performing Linear Remains choreographed by Rafael Bonachelor restaged by Paul Liburd. Shannon is really excited to be part of Motionhouse and begin her performing career. When asked what she was most excited about, Shannon stated “I am really excited to be part of Motionhouse and cannot wait to gain new skills and start touring and performing with the Company.”

With their first week under their belt and Charge rehearsals in full swing it is safe to say that our new dancers have thrown themselves into training. Take a peak of them in action in the images below:
