Check out our Primary education resources for Charge

3rd May 2019

Charge is our current touring theatre production, inspired by the role of electricity in the human body.

In an exciting fusion of art and science, we worked with science partners from the University of Oxford to create a spectacular multi-media performance taking audiences on a journey from the electrical charge that sparks human life. Six performers use dance and circus to delve deep into the human body, tracing the incredible story of energy in our lives.

We have created a Charge portal to take you ‘behind the scenes’ to the creation of Charge and bring our incredible work to a variety of levels going from primary to BTEC.

Our primary education resources for Charge give you access to a wealth of scientific information, lesson plans and engaging digital behind-the-scenes content, all beautifully illustrated with images and footage from rehearsals and the production.

The resources are designed to be used by teachers in a number of ways, including:

·     To support a visit to the production, guiding pupils to look, appreciate and understand the story-line, meanings and ideas contained in the work

·     To engage children with science and ignite a curiosity and interest in the bio-electricity of their own bodies

·     To deliver a full term’s worth of cross-curricular ‘topic’ work using Charge as a springboard for learning in science, literacy, music, geography, history, art, PE, dance and PSHE
