My office work placement with Motionhouse

28th August 2019

This April we were joined by an office work placement volunteer, Courtney Evans. Take a look at this great blog that she wrote about her time with us as an Administration Assistant and what she is up to next!

“I first encountered Motionhouse when I studied Dance at GCSE, and then again last year whilst working with Black Country Dance Hub where we hosted Captive and Underground. Having the opportunity to watch these shows reminded me what an exciting company Motionhouse is and I contacted them about a work placement.

I started in April working as an Administration Assistant where I completed a variation of tasks. This included researching the local area for our outreach and community classes, documenting the spring intensive as well as other small but important jobs that are vital to the daily running of Motionhouse. I also had the chance to go with the Motionhouse team to Nottingham Playhouse, assisting with the collating of feedback, merchandise sales and had the opportunity to watch Charge!

Working with Motionhouse has been a great experience where I have learnt valuable skills and gained a better understanding of how a dance company operates. This will in no doubt contribute the work I undertake in the future and inform my studies at Goldsmiths University of London where I will be starting an MA in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy this September.”
