Wondrous Wednesday – Exciting Opportunities!

WE NEED YOU! VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION OPEN!

24th November 2021

Welcome to another Wondrous Wednesday, our blog dedicated to Wondrous Stories! Conceived and directed by our Artistic Director Kevin Finnan, this extraordinary large-scale production will be the opening show of the Birmingham 2022 Festival.

This week we are launching our volunteer call out for Wondrous Stories!

When staging a large-scale show like Wondrous Stories it really does take a lot of people to make the show happen behind the scenes. Besides the cast, the creative team [choreographers, composers and costume designers], the production team [lighting, audio, riggers, crewing], there is usually a dedicated bunch of volunteers helping with the event and show management – doing little jobs to help with the smooth running of everything!

Motionhouse and our producing partners at OPUS, love working with volunteers who are passionate about arts and culture in their cities. We have a great respect for people who are donating the most valuable thing we all have – our time – to creative endeavours like this show.

Over the years, great friendships have been forged with volunteers who have come together on shows like The Voyage, Watermusic and Lumen. This will be no different for Wondrous Stories, and today we have released our expression of interest form if you would like to find out more.

How to get involved

If you are interested in supporting Motionhouse to realise the show, OPUS will be running an informal Zoom session in the New Year to tell you more. All you need to do is fill in this form and we will invite you!

The types of things we will need help with in March are assisting the general public, handing out flyers in the run up to the show and supporting the cast as they move through the space and the buildings. There may be some opportunities to also support the production team and wardrobe/costume teams if you are nifty with a safety pin!

We will need you to be available for at least 4 nights from w/c 14th March with some support in the earlier part of the month. We are able to cover travel expenses for those who need it.

Please note that because Wondrous Stories happens outside of Games time, this is a separate opportunity to the formal recruitment process that is happening with the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Volunteers.

Apply to take part or find out more!

We look forward to hearing from you!
