Captive and WILD come to Redditch

15th May 2026

People in Redditch are in for a treat this summer when we come to town to perform two of our acclaimed outdoor productions free of charge in a range of public spaces. People will be able to see Captive at several locations over the bank holiday weekend (23 – 25 May) during May half-term and can also catch WILD in the town centre on Saturday 20 June.

The performances will be part of the Makers in Motion project from Reimagine Redditch, which is inspired by Redditch as a place where people have always made things – needles, springs, lamps, bikes – and by many different people telling Reimagine Redditch that they want bigger, more ambitious creative work across the Borough. So, Makers asks what will people make now?

We will stage the spectacular live performances in May and June and deliver an 18-month co-creation project with communities, which will end with a final performance in summer 2028.

From 23-25 May, there will be three opportunities to catch our popular outdoor show Captive – an exciting mix of dance, acrobatics and aerial work inside a large cage. Free performances will take place at 3 key locations at 1pm each day, with no need to book in advance:

  • 23 May: Tesco Redditch Extra carpark, Coldfield Drive
  • 24 May: Morton Stanley Park in the circular area near the car park. Followed by a free family workshop with the Motionhouse dancers for children aged 5-12 and their parents/guardians.
  • 25 May Arrow Valley Country Park, near the Boathouse café. Followed by a free workshop with the Motionhouse dancers for ages 12-18.

There’s another chance to see us in action on the 20 June, when we return to Redditch with our award-winning hit show WILD. There will be two free opportunities to catch this gravity-defying spectacle at 11am and 2pm on Market Place in the town centre.

We can’t wait to perform our work in Redditch. We believe that dance is for everyone, so it’s going to be fantastic to share our work in the heart of communities across the area.

Louise Richards, Executive Director of Motionhouse

We’re thrilled that people across the borough can experience the Motionhouse performances for themselves. This will be a stunning cultural event for everybody in Redditch to enjoy – every single person, no matter their background or experience of creative or cultural events, is most welcome.
