Traction is a stunning Transformer-esque performance that sees 6 dancers and 3 JCB diggers dancing together with acrobatic partnering, animaline strength and unison phrases. A high voltage celebration of the powerful relationship between humans and machines.
Traction was commissioned by Bullring Birmingham as a climactic celebration to launch a new development in the shopping-centre. It premiered in November 2011 and was performed in both daylight and under striking lights at night.
Traction was freshly recreated on sand for the Marseille Provence European Capital of Culture celebrations in May 2013. An audience of 16,000 people gathered along the beachfront at Prado Nord and the show’s reach extended beyond the immediate audience with widespread international press coverage.
